Troop 70, The Jamboree Troop, will be attending the 2013 National Jamboree as part of the Circle Ten Council contingent. See Below.

Troop 70 began its history in attending the national jamborees in 1950 It has attended the 15 national jamborees since then which is a record no other troop can tout.

Being a part of the council contingent, the Troop will be traveling to New York City, Washington DC and then on to the jamboree. This will be the first jamboree at The Summit. The Summit is property owned by BSA for its exclusive use and is the permanent jamboree site.

The jamboree program is changing from what was offered at prior jamborees. Nestled in the West Virginia mountains, high adventure activities will dominate the program offerings. Mountain boarding, mountain biking, day hikes, a day of service, white water rafting, tree top canopy events, swimming, etc will all be part of the programming.

Registration:
In order to be a part of the first jamboree on this wonderful new site, each Scout will need to register at The Summit. Just click on that link and register.

Here is how the registration process works. As you register on The Summit, you need to pay a deposit. Be sure to include Troop 70 as your unit number. Then the registration goes to Circle Ten Council for approval.

Circle Ten will approve your application and then it will be assigned to the contingent troop for Troop 70 Scouts. Each troop consists of 36 youth and four leaders. Sign up early to ensure you are part of this troop.

Cost:
The cost of the Circle Ten Council contingent trip is $2,700. Troop 70 anticipates paying for one-half of that cost for its Scouts who attend. What a deal!! This is dependant on successful fund raising for 2012 to add to our resources. Parents, just follow the payment schedule below and Troop 70 will complete the payments as shown.
